Software Installation
A number of security issues surrounding Windows® Operating Systems have made the installation process differ between platforms.
The installation processes differ quite markedly as a result.
-
Both platforms now use an installer, though the Mac OS X (Tiger) installer was a simple drag and drop installation up to build 246.
-
When Mac OS X Leopard support was introduced, on the same day (26 October 2007) that Leopard was released, build 250 introduced the package based installer that Leopard required.
-
The Windows® Installer is a full installer application which also requires post-install configuration. To make it as easy as possible we have built our own single-purpose configuration tool, which also aids removal if needed.
